Photo Hunt - Hand-Written

If these walls could talk. They are located in Toronto, and were built by unpaid asylum patient labourers during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

These walls, which serve as a testament to the abilities of the people who often lived out their lives in the "insane asylum," still stand on the grounds of the modern hospital. While historically significant you may be wondering what they have to do with this week's theme.

If you look closely you will see that those patients of long ago left their mark by writing on these walls.

Some of them added a name, or a date, or a single word.

This one I found to be chilling, and very sad. It says "Born To Be Murdered."
Occasionally there are walking tours of the grounds at the CAMH Queens Street facility, there are also plaques that are placed near these walls, which help to tell the story of the people who lived there, and helped to build these walls that are still standing, some over 150 years old.
Thank you for stopping by, and hope you all have a great weekend!
