The following photos were taken this past weekend at Sauble Beach, Ontario Canada. Each year we have enjoy our girls only family vacation at the beach where my parents met in the early 1960s.

Creature Of Catfish Pond

July 8th, 2014

Yesterday the Toronto Star printed a story on an aligator-like creature being spotted in a pond very close to where I live.  Naturally being a fan of all things odd including possible cryptids I had to go have a look.

By the time I got to the pond the creature had been caught. Here is some video of what is being described as a one year old caiman and a probable discarded pet The pic above is of the poor wee creature with its rescuers and a CP24 reporter. Note the "danger" sign in the rear of the shot. :)

Round and Dusk

June 13th, 2014

I took this photo during our after supper walk on a frosty near dusk evening last January 17th.  The full moon still low in the sky was gorgeous and I tried to do my best to capture it using the built in camera on my phone. I also like the large round effects produced by the street lights in the distance, and the misty air surrounding the frozen field ahead of me. The red glowy stick-like thing in the background is the CN Tower.

Vegiterra at the Annex Flea

June 10th, 2014

This past Sunday June 8th I checked out the Annex Flea held in the Honest Ed's lot here in Toronto. Specifically we were wanting to see some friends who were trying out their first pop-up restaurant.

This cute sign is advertising the two variations of empanadas Chris and Kristofir were serving that day.  Kilimanjaro was an African inspired recipe and Agung was inspired by Bali.  I have to admit while both were good I was particularly loving the  Agung,  which is a corn and coconut filling with lemongrass and lime leaves Yum!

It was great to meet up with old friends, but the food alone was worth the trek.

Here is a pic of Matthew scarfing down an empanada.

Thanks to Kristofir and Chris for the yummy food and best wishes for more succesful events in the future! Check out the Vegiterra blog and Vegiterra Facebook page for recipes and future pop-up restaurants.
